About this deal

With her festive business booming, she decides to celebrate by renting a secluded house in the Lakes, with a plan to make this the ultimate yuletide getaway.

My heart went out to young Krystle at the beginning of this book – a really difficult childhood only made easier by her aunt’s loving care, and the gorgeous sight while on holiday in the Lakes, seen through a window, of a room decorated for Christmas, complete with roaring fire and presents under the tree. It ignited her love for everything Christmas-related – now her year-round and particularly successful career.

Krystle didn’t have a normal childhood and longed for warm family Christmases with presents under the tree. Now she makes sure everyone else has the perfect Christmas she never had, bringing beautiful decorations to cheer as many people as possible. As well as an entertaining story, I thought the people in The Christmas Holiday were really well drawn. I loved the way the voice of the absent Auntie Linda propelled Krys on, guiding her to fulfilment without recourse to relying on others. A tough upbringing saw Krys taken to the Lakes as a young girl on a break for underprivileged children; where she saw her dream home. Now, as an adult, she's come across the same house and has rented it for the holidays. Pour yourself a mug of hot chocolate and settle down in front of the fire with this perfect, uplifting festive listen!

Themes of grief and community are so beautifully included. The connection between Krys’s childhood and her present personality is sensitively handled. If you’re looking for something that’s lighthearted as well as emotional, dark and a little bit hopeful, this is your book. It’s a Christmas book, but perfect for any time of year! The story starts many years ago when the main character (a now successful business woman) is in primary school. This short prologue had me hooked and laughing out loud. I absolutely loved The Christmas Holiday. It's a heartwarming and emotional tale that's easy-to-read and will get you into the festive spirit. 🎄❄️✨️As Krys is known as Mrs Christmas she is in her element but as Brett is once again called away for work will her Christmas be ruined or could this be the start of a new life? It’s set in the Lake District at Christmas time, but don’t expect white snowy England. You just never know what weather to expect in this little town! And there are some really emotional scenes, I think I almost ruined my book with tears at the “Santa” scene. Honestly. I will be rereading this book as I found the writing excellent and I couldn't get enough of the story. A lovely, glittery Christmas story … A gem to read, this book is both festive and heart-warming … So enjoyable to read and extremely hard to put down NetGalley review⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gave me so much joy… I think this book will bring happiness to all that read it’ NetGalley review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Brilliant cosy Christmas read. I could not put this down! It’s one book that is more than just your lighthearted romance. There’s some really dark themes throughout with a big prevalence around death and lower working class society, but there’s also this huge sense of community in the book which is great. If you make a bad decision, and a tragedy happens (that is not your fault, but you accept fault nonetheless) should you live the rest of your life in repentance? This book has a character in that position. Max is a character that became a real person to me, and I care about him so much. I felt his guilt, pain and struggle. His dog Jake, is Max’s saving grace. As it is true in life, Max did not recuse Jake. Jake definitely is the rescuer.

Krytle, who is described by people in London as Mrs Christmas because she runs a holiday business dressing Christmas shop windows and in store displays . She has now booked her favourite house she remembers it from her unhappy childhood, it's meant to be for an extended christmas break she is able to do this as her beloved auntie Lynda has passed away leaving her with some money under the proviso she does 'something that makes you smile or scares you, anything that you'll remember forever'. The Christmas Holiday made me laugh (Max's quip about Elves FC vs Lapland City had me laughing out loud!), made me cry, and most definitely made me want to revisit the beautiful Lake District! A perfect Christmas story with great characters and meaningful development. Definitely recommend for your festive reading this year.’ Reader review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
