About this deal

Take note of my setup, which I have tested in a more spacious part of this same room with much more depth between each side wall, only to find no difference in actual presentation qualities. The analogue front end and SPDIF receiver are both equipped with top-of-the-line components from Texas Instrument. The 65Hz bump is a bit of a mystery but it may well contribute to the A300's subjective bass performance. Having said that, though, obviously all my evangelism for underhung voice coils doesn't mean that drivers with overhung voice coils can't be made to work extremely well.

Saying that, the A80 speakers did give the piano focus and precision that added to the pace of the music. There is a small hump on the inside of the battery door whose task is to push the battery into the remote itself. Despite the sonic highlights around the bass and midrange, the A80s did toil a little to maintain frequency discipline.

The power amplification section of the system is made up of two TAS5754 Class-D amplifiers from Texas Instruments. However, one idiosyncrasy that could I think have been avoided is that decision to connect the two A300 units with DIN plugs and sockets. These are the same knobs used on Airpulse’s other speakers and they work really well on the P100X, even complimenting its style. So it seems like I need to download their special driver to be able to run higher bitrates properly through USB? The mid‑range clarity is accompanied by a really tightly focused stereo image that contributes to a sense of being able to hear deep into a mix.

The first curve, Diagram 2, illustrates the 200Hz to 20kHz axial frequency response and a couple of 15‑degree off-axis curves. In this case, the A300 is more dense feeling and more solid in nature than my older HDP6 from AudioEngine. Impeccable in design and built to last, this high performance speaker system is the start of an adventure with Airpulse. With a team of experienced engineers and designers, Airpulse has developed a range of active HiFi speakers such as the Airpulse A100 that feature built in amplifiers, Bluetooth receivers and digital to analogue converters. We like a lot about what Airpulse has tried to do here, but these are not the speakers to brighten up these tough times spent at home.WITH APTX: The Airpulse A300Pro features a QCC3031 chipset from Qualcomm, incorporating Bluetooth V5. Connect the Airpulse A100 to the subwoofer with the LFE connection and try 80 Hz crossover and volume 15-20% on the sub-woofer. Speaking of character, first the good news: playing my usual variety of Pro Tools sessions and CDs, I wasn't disappointed by the A300's mid‑range.

Soomal - Airpulse A100 Active Speaker System: Teardown Gallery Airpulse released a small bookshelf speaker, A100, after the highly praised A200, equipping new speaker units, smaller sized ribbon tweeters. Airpulse is a premium speaker brand by Edifier that was founded in 2012 with a focus on delivering high-quality, immersive audio experiences at home. As the bass from the speakers is getting fainter (reduced in volume) as the 5" woofer decreases in frequency, the subwoofer decreases the volume as the frequency rises and reaches the crossover point, so the two compensate each other and give the impression that it is a unitary whole. The Bluetooth audio receiver is built on Qualcomm’s Bluetooth chipset, which supports APT-X decoder, and offers a far better audio playback quality than what a traditional Bluetooth SBC codec can present. The Proprietary Aluminium Alloy Cone (PAAC) of the mid-woofer was designed after an in-depth analysis of all types of cone geometry and materials using a Klippel Laser Doppler Interferometer. I played Nina Simone and Love Me or Leave Me as a lossy file from my phone to see how the speakers coped with an inferior source signal. The cabinet work is from unusually thick and internally braced MDF panels, finished in lacquered wood veneer and satin black paint. The system reserves a subwoofer signal output in case of a situation that needs low-frequency rendering with strong bass.
